Zion National Park

I was in St. George this weekend and was able to go to Zion National Park. It was beautiful! The contrast of the red dirt and the green foliage was striking. I also was able to spend a lot of time with my family, which always leaves me feeling buoyed up. We hiked up to the Emerald Pools and it was so beautiful. There were a ton of people there that didn’t speak English–I was really surprised! Anyway, I hope you can enjoy some of the pictures I took!

Antelope Island, Utah

I still have a hard time comprehending what it means to live in the West! Born and raised and East Coast girl, I still feel like I’m in an alien world when I see the vegetation and landscapes common in Utah.

Saturday began the week-and-a-half family “staycation” with my mom, dad, sister + her hubby + nephew.

We went to Antelope Island. Yes, there is an island in Salt Lake. It’s giant, and there are free-roaming buffalo and antelope. Also is a ranch on the island, with historic stuff from the original family that lived there. I took a ton of photos, and here are the best ones:

A Photo Book

I made a photo album from Kava’s and my little vacation in around Easter. I made it on Shutterfly.com! It was a padded cover 12×12 book with 31 pages! It was originally supposed to be $100 and some, but they were having a couple deals and I ended up getting it for $70 (high-five!), so that was pretty exciting.

Here are a select few pages! The quality isn’t very good because these are just screen shots I took from the preview. The real book came in the mail a few days ago and it looks really amazing! 12×12 was a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be!! It’s cool, though. Really cool. Too bad he has to wait 2 years to see it! Haha!

Jeans

Soooooo I’m back in Utah (notice the snow) and I realized (as I was trying to think of a title for this post) that in the 6mo that I’ve had this blog, I’ve only worn jeans twice in all of the fashion posts! I’m always in dresses, skirts, shorts or leggings. I don’t wear jeans very often because I only have a few pairs and none of them seem to fit me very well. I have big hips and stuff.

Happy second post with jeans!

Also, if you’re wondering why my face is so chubby–I gained like almost 5lbs since I moved to California. Working on it.

MAKE SURE you check out the blog tomorrow (if you don’t ever come back again, just at least come back tomorrow)!!! It’ll be–in a word, amazing. Or at least cool. Or impressive. I’m not sure. But come. Tomorrow. Bookmark it.

Trip Photos from Moving to California

I’m officially living in California now. The drive wasn’t too bad. I left Thursday night and drove to St. George, UT for the evening, then left at 7am MST. I got to LA around noon PST. I don’t think I’m used to the time change yet, because I can’t shake this feeling of being absolutely exhausted.

I’ve been to the beach twice already and this morning I went to the LA County Fair. Unfortunately, I did not take any pictures. Mostly because I didn’t have my camera. I guess I did take one with my phone at the fair, but it was of some artwork because I thought it looked awkward.

But here are goodies from the trip! And now that I’m settled, I’ll be able to update on a schedule again.

This is Mesquite, NV. It’s literally RIGHT outside of Arizona. Since NV is known for Las Vegas and gambling, you better believe they had a casino within a stones throw of the border. I love the lighting in these photos. People always get photos during sunset, but not as many for sunrise.

I don’t know if all of you have seen the giant windmills that are in the midwest and western states, but this is one of the arms/wings. Sooo giant, it’s almost unbelievable how much bigger the body must be.

I also don’t know how many of you have seen Joshua Trees, but I’ve always been intrigued by them and so I tried to get some pictures…that I took while driving out the window, so this isn’t, ya know, professional type pictures. They look prehistoric. You can see them a little better here, but I mean they are some sweet lookin’ trees.

So I figured I oughtta take some photos while going through Vegas. There’s not that much to see during the morning hours. It doesn’t look nearly as impressive than at night. So the biggest photo that looks like it’s just of a road is the first view you get of Vegas coming down the I-15. You can kind of see that there may or may not be a city in that valley during the day, but at night it’s all lit up and super cool.

And here we go! Beautiful mountains, then look at that smog in the 2nd photo…Well, hellooo California!
