The Green of Spring

Budding Tulips

IMGP0042-001

Purple flowers in the rain

Spring is finally here! The tulips are budding, and it rained this morning and walking around campus smelled like plants. Spring truly is one of my favorite seasons.

I am seriously holding out hope that this weekend is going to go well. I was at the bank today and the teller said, “any plans for this weekend?” And I, in a bitter tone, immediately replied “no.” Then I remembered that I do have plans and I’m just so used to not having plans (and apparently being bitter about it), that my trained response to that question came out immediately in the negative.

Also, I helped a little earthworm back to the safety of the dirt from the sidewalk today. I felt like a child, bent down poking at a worm with a stick until it went the way I wanted it to go. Also also, I’ve been seriously contemplating chopping off my hair for a couple weeks now! I’M JUST SO NERVOUS. I probably won’t do it. I don’t know. I might…

Thoughts in Black

IMGP9440

I have to say how much I’ve been busy being not busy the past few weeks. It’s like I’ve made an effort to do none of my work. I call it my rebellious period. I think I was just so overwhelmed after last semester ended, then I’ve been overwhelmed with the amount of work I’ve had straight off this semester. But, I’m over it now.

I’m happy to report I’m back on schedule now, and things are looking up. For starters, I finally organized my room–not just cleaned it. I can’t express how much better it’s made me feel already.

My ankle is still healing somehow. I can’t believe how long it’s been and why it isn’t better already. I did manage to wear heels on Sunday, though. They gave me a blister on the back of my ankle, so now all I can wear are my loose shoes. So overall, it ended up taking my already limited  choice (only flats) to even more limited (only flats that don’t hurt my blister).

When I was organizing my room, I managed to get rid of a lot of stuff I was basically hanging on to for no reason. It’s so funny–when I originally put it all in a box and put it in a corner of my closet, I thought “I can’t just throw this away, I spent a lot of time on it, even though I’ll probably never look at it again.”

When I took it out yesterday, I was strangely unattached and didn’t care at all. All in the trash. It felt really…empowering. I know that’s weird, but it feels so good not to be attached to things. Sometimes I feel like I live my whole life making decisions based on one attachment or another.

Confession: I didn’t go to my classes today. I took a mental-sanity day and ran errands, then enjoyed a beautifully relaxing (much needed) pedicure. I can’t even fully express how much I’ve been needing to relax.

Polka dots, worn jeans and bow sandals

This is one of my favorite shirts. It’s so comfortable and unique and I got it from Goodwill when I lived in California. I didn’t realize my favorite pair of jeans were getting so worn in the knee area. It makes me sad, but I will never stop wearing these jeans, even if I have to make them into one of those tacky pants-purses so I can at least always carry them around. The shoes are from Charlotte Russe. I just think they’re adorable. I love them! Well, I love the way they look, but they are kind of cheap. The soles are coming off a little and I haven’t worn them too terribly much.

My contacts should be coming in the mail soon! I’m so ready for them! I miss them!

Orange and Purple Nails

Sinful Colors Hazard is the orange, Essie Play Date is the purple. I like the idea of a different accent nail, and I adore these colors together.

K I’m busy, doing this on my phone, sorry! I promise more coming soon!

Juicy Week Review

Let’s hear about the past week, in order of excitement:

  1. Engine in my car died
  2. Sushi with Katrin to talk about a super super exciting new project we’re starting
  3. I got fired from my job
  4. Created a Facebook Page for Lace Lollipops
  5. Have a new blog theme (I love it)
  6. Nephew started crawling
  7. No progress accomplished for my final paper in English…sadface

Quite a juicy week I’ve had. I am planning on selling my car and buying a new one. Listen for the most exciting adventure I’ll ever embark upon this weekend. (!!! I’m so SO excited.) Please come back tomorrow or Thursday to hear my ever-so-detailed, “tell-all” of how I got fired (it’s really not something to miss).

And these photos below, for some reason I really like them. I think it’s because I was annoyed when I was taking them, so they don’t show the usual smiles. Going out of the usual is exciting.

Balloons and Sparrows

I really like balloons, so when I came to work yesterday and had balloons waiting for me, I was all over them. As you can see by the new header. And the photos below. I even did my hair and nails and makeup all nice! Balloons are special, I’m telling you. The dress is from Forever21, shoes are from Forever Young Shoes. Hair I got from this tutorial on Pinterest (and modified it a little).

After A Long Day Of Shopping

Nice to see you again, yellow blazer! I coincidentally wore those same shoes, too, I just didn’t get a good photo of them. Nails are done with Essie’s Play Date and a top coat of Sinful Colors’ Purple Diamond. Dress is from Papaya. I got my necklace from a little boutique about a year ago and the ring on the right hand is from Charlotte Russe, the LOVE ring, I can’t remember where it’s from or when I even got it…they have them everywhere, though.

I wore this to a family friend’s reception on Saturday!

In other news, I hate it when I do that thing when I smile and my teeth go over my lip. It’s so unattractive. I should’ve gotten braces.

Oh well. So this week, I’m going to St. George! It’ll be fun. Fingers crossed I come back tan.
