Vivid Rose Maybelline Vivids

Lipstick Diaries pt VI – Montage

I decided posting a new post for every…single…lipstick would be tedious and annoying, so instead–a video montage!! The only problem is I didn’t write which were which on the screen because they’re out of order and some of the clips are too short. SO, The Lipstick Montage Key:

Maybelline Vibrant Mandarin

Vibrant Mandarin – #885; VERY bright and gorgeous! Difficult to differentiate between this and Neon Red (below). Mostly they’re all this one. And if it’s not this one, buy this one anyway. I really don’t like the Neon Red.

Neon Red Maybelline Vivids

Neon Red – #890; Not my favorite red, appears the least in the vid. Buy the Vibrant Mandarin instead.

Vivid Rose Maybelline Vivids

Vivid Rose #875; My FAVORITE of all of them! Super velvety, this one is the obvious pink one in the video.

Pinkpop Maybelline Vivids

Pink Pop #860; Looks really good in video. Also see my post on it here.

Brazen Berry Maybelline Vivids

Brazen Berry – #905; really pretty – my favorite shots were mostly this one.

Social Change

I just recently got accepted to present at the Utah Valley University Conference on Writing for Social Change. I’m really excited, because it means I can present my paper on feminism to some people and maybe inspire social change. That’s kind of a big deal.

Also, I am doing something else really exciting. Getting all A’s. In all 6 of my classes. The semester is about only halfway done, so we’ll see where it goes, but it’s amazing how much more motivated I am to be successful in school after a) taking a year off and b) having figured out what I want to do with my life.

The last thing that’s going on in my life that is keeping me from being a very good blogger is that I have been rehearsing and practicing to accompany the BYU contemporary dancers. I got this amazing opportunity from one of the most musically apt people I know from Church. He randomly presented me with this chance, and I’ve totally been bitten by the performance bug. I just love it. We did our first performance today and it went really well. It felt amazing to sing with such a talented person and to a magical guitarist, then knowing two people were dancing to something that I was helping to create–was amazing.

I have a lot going on right now, personally and with school, but I’m encouraged by the inspiring messages of those around me. I am so lucky and grateful for the opportunities I get to spend my life in such uplifting circumstances. I am growing in ways I never thought possible–and it’s not even because of the Halloween candy!

Fall 2012

I love all seasons, but I have to say, I think Fall-time gets the most attention from me. Even though it snowed this morning, but the mid-afternoon it all melted and I was determined to get some photos before the colors all turned to brown.

I have been a bad blogger lately, but I’m determined to change it.

In good news, I might be going to 80 degree Vegas this weekend to celebrate Katrin’s 21st! And I get to be very artsy in one of my classes right now.

I also saw three people I haven’t seen in over a year at school this week. Two I enthusiastically said hello to, one I avoided like the plague.

Halloween and Thanksgiving are almost upon us. I am so excited for the holiday season!

Hey, thanks to all of you who read these posts. It really means a lot to me.

First Dates

I don’t really talk about dating very much, because it’s something I generally dislike. I guess that’s not totally true. I like dating, but usually only after I’ve been dating someone for a while. My guess at why is probably because first dates can be really uncomfortable. This past Saturday, I got asked and happily went on a date. I’m lucky in that it turned out to be surprisingly fun.

Some of you may remember this post about my recent dating past, along with a list of goals for dating life when I turned 21. In the almost three months since that post, I’ve had a handful of first dates. I don’t know if that’s a lot or not. It feels like a lot.

Some have been uncomfortable, some have been alright, and some were fun. Mostly, I feel like they’ve all been a lot of effort. It takes so much energy to be constantly trying to think of what to say next and wondering how I might be coming across. I guess because I’ve always been a “relationship-girl,” I’m used to going on dates with the same person. All these first dates are so out of the norm–and stressful.

Some of you may also remember this post about an epiphany I had regarding the kind of man I want to end up with. After re-reading that today, I would like to add “looks like a mountain man/lumberjack” to that list (that’s only kind of a joke) and say something I feel I should’ve mentioned then: I believe in making myself to be the kind of woman so as to deserve that kind of man.

Also, as much as I hate first-dating, it’s probably more likely that I’m going to find my tough-on-the-outside, soft-on-the-inside, bearded man by sucking up my overactive awkward-o-meter and going out on first dates.

My fingers are still crossed that he appears out of nowhere, here in Utah.

Now that I’ve scared off any future potential boys, here are some photos from the date I went on this weekend:

Firstly, he got me balloons.

“I may or may not have looked at your blog,” was along the lines of what he said.

We went to the Bridal Veil Falls park up the canyon and just walked along, taking photos every now and then. It was only a little warmer than I would’ve liked, but the shade was lovely. These are the falls! I forgot my camera (I know, right?), but luckily he brought his.

Then, we passed this fallen tree, in the shade. It was a perfect photo spot. So I stop. He agrees that it’s nice. I go to take a picture, and he goes over the trunk, up a little ways and emerges from behind a big rock with a blanket and a cooler.

It was a lovely surprise and I was very impressed at the effort he went through. I ended up cutting my finger on that bottle cap, but hopefully it will scar and I’ll get a nice battle wound.

Since you say you read my blog, thank you, Christian, for the good time!

To everyone else, especially all the beautiful young ladies that read my blog  (I hear you’re mostly between 13-17 years old), remember that sometimes you have to go through lots of dates and potentially uncomfortable situations in order to find out what kind of personality traits you do (or don’t) want in a guy–then eventually recognize him when you see him. That means you should go on dates with people who are kind enough to ask you and spend time and effort on you–and go out looking to have fun and make a new friend. It’s much harder to go wrong with those kinds of expectations. And know these types of posts are ALL for YOU.

Where My Time Is Spent (UVU Photos)

I’ve been such a slacker on my blog posting lately. I blame how much work I have for school. SO! Here are some photos of where I spend most of my time. I don’t have any more time, or I would explain some of the photos.

Polka dots, worn jeans and bow sandals

This is one of my favorite shirts. It’s so comfortable and unique and I got it from Goodwill when I lived in California. I didn’t realize my favorite pair of jeans were getting so worn in the knee area. It makes me sad, but I will never stop wearing these jeans, even if I have to make them into one of those tacky pants-purses so I can at least always carry them around. The shoes are from Charlotte Russe. I just think they’re adorable. I love them! Well, I love the way they look, but they are kind of cheap. The soles are coming off a little and I haven’t worn them too terribly much.

My contacts should be coming in the mail soon! I’m so ready for them! I miss them!

Canyon Trip

After classes, I had a moment of spontaneity and decided to drive through Provo Canyon all the way out to the other side. It was beautiful! I was hoping to see more fall colors, but what I did see was beautiful and the breeze alone was heavenly.

It was awesome to experience the beauty of summer ending and fall starting. Some of the places in that canyon look like they come straight out of a fairytale.

Check out the gallery below for more shots of my 2.5 hour drive!

Orange and Purple Nails

Sinful Colors Hazard is the orange, Essie Play Date is the purple. I like the idea of a different accent nail, and I adore these colors together.

K I’m busy, doing this on my phone, sorry! I promise more coming soon!

Sorry on Post Slowness

Sorry I haven’t been posting very regularly this week. There’s just this thing called English Class, crammed into a Summer semester, and all I do is annotate articles on feminism and write outlines and papers.

Here are things that keep me sane:

I love side braids. Efficient. I don’t have to put almost any effort into my hair. Favorite polka dot shirt. Jean shorts. Mint pedicures with blue flowers. Gold sandals.

A Binder of Letters

I’m very lucky that while my boy is in the MTC, we can send and receive letters same day. Since I live on the same street as the MTC. I actually drive past it on my way to and from work. Yes, I’m always hoping I see him, but I never do. I can’t wait until he goes to France so I can stop giving myself anxiety attacks!

So Sundays are craft days for me, and this past Sunday, I made a binder in which to put all his letters:

First, I photocopy all the letters (color looks way better than B&W, even if he writes w/ black pen, by the way) and hole-punch them, put in the binder with a divider between the different letters and put the originals back in their envelopes.

I made my own dividers out of construction paper and labels. I used lime green and lemon yellow colored paper, alternating between the two. I took shipping labels in the neon color and folded them to look like tabs, then numbered them. The blue-grey paper on the top is just my cover sheet. It’s blank and just for looks!

Then, I numbered all the letters with these little circular labels and green sharpie. I thought it was cuter to have the circles, rather than write directly on the copies.

I still wanted to keep the original letters close, so I took a plastic sheet cover and put all the letters in it, then folded it over so they weren’t all flopping around, and sealed it with one of the labels I used for the tabs.

When that was all finished, I made a cute cover to decorate the outside and the binding. I attached a ribbon with the binding, just in case I ever wanted to take it out, because it’s impossible to get paper out of that little space! And it’s cute!

Voila! My binder of Letters from the MTC! It’ll be a great memory. I especially love it because the letters are all copied. It makes it so I’m not always fiddling with the originals (but they’re still there). It’s nice since the letters come all folded and creased, but this way, they’re just flat and easy to flip through and read all at once!

A Package

Sundays have become Craft Sundays for me, mostly because I don’t ever feel like I have very much to do on Sundays. I have a boyfriend on a mission for my Church, so I sent him a package on Friday. I put such cute stuff in it! At least, I think I did. I used all neon colors and frankly, it hurts the eyes to look at, but I’m hoping he enjoyed it!

The best thing about being in the same city as the MTC (where he currently is) is that I can get packages to him same day, no matter the size, for $2. It’s very convenient. I can obviously also get letters to him same day. They don’t even charge postage, how COOL.

Well, I’m off to send him a letter and tonight I’ll be doing more things to make him another package! Yay, craftiness!

Little tiny quotes that he can insert into his journal or put on the mirror, or do whatever, honestly.

Since he’ll be serving in France, I wrote up the Articles of Faith (the basic beliefs of our Church) in french, then put a pretty bow on it.

The whole thing, packed and stuffed to the top, right before I sealed it and sent it!

The contents! It was fun to put together! AH! I hope he liked it! I hope I get a letter today…

I honestly don’t know how I can keep this up for another 24 months without a breakdown of some kind…

Sunny California

Today, it’s going to be 80 degrees. As soon as I’m finished typing this, I’m going to hop in a swimsuit and go sit in the sun. It’s also January.

This is why I live here.
