Video Review of ELF and Outfit

So that’s the first video I ever made having to do with makeup! Yay! I forgot to mention the nail polish I’m wearing in the video is one of the ones I got in the Purple Trio. I don’t know what it’s called, though. It’s the lightest of the 3. Ugh, fine, I’ll go look it up. It’s called “Mod Mauve.” The darkest is on my toes right now, too. I like it!

Here’s the full outfit I was wearing in the video, headed out to a little bakery in Pasadena! (plus a white sweater, which isn’t shown).

Dress: Urban Outfitters, Nail Polish: Mod Mauve by ELF, Twizzlers: Package from parents! <3

Yesterday’s Little Lunch

Well, I wanted a PB&J for lunch yesterday, but there wasn’t any bread. So I had one on a Cinnamon Swirl bagel. It seriously was so delicious. Have they invented cinnamon peanut butter? Because they should. I also used strawberry freezer jam. I mean seriously, so good.

Doesn’t this photo make you want one too? It was a mini bagel, so it was the perfect amount of food. Mmm.

“Pyramid” By Charice – Dave Audé Remix

May take a while to load, be patient! Also, you can click the little dialog bubble button at the bottom right to turn off the comments. I think they’re annoying, so I would definitely recommend it.

The original of this song is really good too, but this remix…well, I am in love with it. I have been listening to it for over a year and have yet to get tired of it. It is awesome and makes me want to dance. I’m upset that I don’t have headphones with me because I’m sitting in a public place and don’t want to force everyone to listen to this song.

Although they’d probably like it.

Charice is a singer from the Philippines (which is just about the hardest word to spell ever) and she is super talented. After I heard this song, I saw her on an episode of Glee and I was like, “OMG Charice!” and she proved (and has since proved on another episode of Glee) that she can SING! Yes. I was listening to Charice before she was on Glee…but I’m not a hipster, I swear.

Also, I heard this track on SoundCloud.com. It’s basically a website where anyone can create an account and upload tracks they’ve made. Kind of like YouTube, but for just songs and not videos. It’s pretty cool. Just from browsing around, you can find lots of cool music to go buy, or in some cases, download for free (depending on if the artist says it’s okay).

It mostly has underground electronic music, I think. I don’t really know for sure, but that’s all I use it for.

I swear I’m not a hipster, okay?! I like just as much overplayed, popular, “mainstream” music as anyone else. And some new stuff. See? Well-rounded…

Haha, so for anyone wondering, the kitten is a meme called Hipster Kitty, and it basically is supposed to make fun all the ideals of people who consider themselves hipsters.

Come back tomorrow for my exciting new ELF package that came yesterday! Makeup makeup and moooorrre makeup!

Nail Polish Experiments

I love doing my nails when I have nothing else to do. There was a time in my life where I did my nails every couple of days. I’ve talked before about how I have a case full of lots of nail polish, but I generally don’t use but a few of the colors. This time, I decided to just pick a color at random, and I chose this blue! Normally, I don’t like blue nail polish, but I really liked it this time.

As far as the decorated hand, I was thinking about doing multi-colored nails (ya know, bringing it back 90′s style), but I ended up playing around with it a little more and came up with these dice-nails.

Then I started thinking about Halloween and maybe trying to find a costume where I could use this style of polish as an accessory! I’ll keep you updated!

And then I discovered a tutorial for Newspaper Nails:

This is my first attempt, so it’s not as polished and clear as I’d like, but I’m pretty pleased! Here are the steps and materials needed (newspaper, nail polish, rubbing alcohol):

I decided to use the horoscope section because of the stars and nicer words; however, this doesn’t really matter because the words end up being mirrored onto the nail, so you can’t really read it anyway.

First, coat your nails with the polish. Make sure it’s completely dry before moving on to the next step.

Then, cut out nail-sized clips from the newspaper that you’d want on your nails & pour the rubbing alcohol into a small container. I used the lid to my nail polish remover (making sure to clean it out before and after).

Then, place the clipping on your nail until the alcohol soaks through and remove! I added a clear top coat to make sure they stayed as long as possible and to add shine.

Music Monday I

I was driving in traffic when this song came on the radio. Immediately, I really liked it. I looked up, when I got home, what I could find about the back-story of the song. Apparently, the artist came up with the song after asking one of the men he worked with in construction–who was a drug dealer as well–why he did what he did, and the man replied “there ain’t no rest for the wicked.”

That response must have really made an impression that lasted long afterwards, since he decided to expand the phrase into the chorus & title of a song.

I like that the song doesn’t have the narrator (the artist himself, presumably, since it’s based of a real event) state an opinion directly. The reasoning or rationale for the less-than-savory actions in the song are given by the characters themselves, not from the person behind the “I.”
